I'm feeling some of my age lately and realized how fast every year goes by. I'm now 41, married on July 4th to my wonderful husband, John, 42. My oldest child, Rachel (14), just hit a momentous milestone by entering into highschool!! Stephen (11) hit a milestone of his own going into 6th grade! We also share a house with our three furry daughters - Sophie (14), Sugar (5), Jessie (6 mos). We are consumed right now by the start of school, busy careers, marching band and beginner band, new teachers, new friends, eyes on boys (yikes X2!), trying to get some good grades, love and patience with each other, keeping our house somewhat organized amidst the chaos and doing our best to thank God all along the way for the blessings in our lives!
I've been doing some thinking lately and have come to the conclusion, while I have lots (at least 20 + years) of pictures from my life and that of many milestones and adventures of my own and our family, I haven't done a very good job of capturing the memories of those pictures in words while I remember what was happening when I took that picture! Simply Journaling. On top of that, some of the sweetest memories and evidence of personalities are those that come just in our daily lives, not in the more traditional times for photos like weddings, birthday parties, trips or award celebrations! Don't get me wrong, those are most certainly incredibly important memorable experiences and I treasure those pictures. But, I fear much of our regular lives are just being "lived" without much fanfare. Suppose that's the way it is much of the time. I'm going to try to capture some of the neat memories that go along with "life" for awhile.
I was recently visiting the website of our local christian radio station, http://www.ksbj.org/. I love this station! The afternoon show is hosted by a woman by the name of Liz Jordan. I came across her blog and read about her efforts called Project 365. She is trying to capture a picture a day for the next 365 days. So after taking a look at her amazing efforts to date as well as some others, you find you have an amazing year long chronicle of just everyday life plain as it is. I thought... I want to do that (or at least try).
John and I did something along these lines last summer when we captured our daily experiences & photos on our trip to Yellowstone, Grand Teton & Glacier National Park. It's been fun to go back and reread my notes from that trip because there is so much I didn't recall until I read it again! I don't want to lose those memories and notes from that trip. Just was thinking how much fun it would be to have some from just our daily lives.
So... you are welcome to hang out with us for awhile and see what this turns out to be! I plan to start working on those 365 pictures soon and journaling along with just some daily thoughts about the happenings (or nonhappenings) at the Cox house and with our families and friends!!
Stay tuned!!
